Made from densely woven wool, this versatile vest is tough as hell! Wear as outerwear or just with a t-shirt. Woven in Pool in Wharfedale, Yorkshire. Cut and sewn for us in Hackney Wick, London.

What is Melton?
Melton is a wool cloth with a felt-like appearance. It’s densely woven making it hard wearing and weather resistant – rain and wind be gone! Melton cloth was chosen by the toffs for their scarlet hunting coats and by the salt of the earth for their donkey jackets. Proper British heritage right here.
And yes Melton, in Leicestershire where the style of cloth originated, is also where the famous Melton Mowbray pork pies come from. You can easily get a big pork pie in each of the generous pockets.
Our Melton is woven just over the hill from HebTroCo in Pool in Wharfedale near Otley in Yorkshire at Marton Mills. 430gsm is a substantial weight without being chunky. We’re calling it a vest because a waistcoat is more fitted and gilet is a silly French name. Our vests are a touch looser allowing them to be worn as outerwear or just with a t-shirt as a body warming layer.

In the photos: Ed is 5’8″ / 10.5 stone and wears a size Medium.
If you want to wear over an overshirt, jumper or sweatshirt choose your usual standard size. If you want to wear like a traditional waistcoat (over just a shirt or t-shirt) go down a size.

Product Care
Wool is a natural fibre that is resistant to odours. You shouldn’t have to wash your Melton Vest unless something cataclysmic happens to it. Spot clean areas gently with a damp cloth.
Do not machine wash.
In case of emergency hand wash or dry clean only.
