BOTHER / Issue 1
This could be the stupidest idea we’ve ever had. BOTHER is our new print magazine, born out of a growing unease with social media platforms, and our love of all things analogue. Celebrating and exploring the culture and style that surrounds and delights us. Swerving from art and architecture to old Volvos. Real life and mythology. Making and doing. It’s the antidote to the algorithm. With contributions from us, our mates and even proper journalists, we hope you’ll like it. We’re in BOTHER. We hope you get into BOTHER too. Contains: Ed's adventure; Neolithic stones; Dragons' Den disasters; Rewilding the nation; Why #VanLife Is Shit; Computer games; Delicious beer; Lovely Eggs; Junko Mori; Brutal architecture; Chicken paws. Voucher expires 31/08/24.

Issue 1: Great interview with Drew Millward. Nicely elcectic range of articles from van life to Brutalism. Fantastic smell as well.

A fabulous opening edition from the guys. Others have said that the magazine is eclectic and that is exactly what it is – a really unusual assortment of short articles on wildly different subjects. I took this in my suitcase on holiday & was mightily glad I did when it reached 35 degrees & I couldn’t move from the bar. I found myself belly-laughing at “Uncle John” & loved reading about Ed cycling to Germany to collect proper buttons. Like many others I have already spent the voucher – which is making me think I have fallen into the trap of spending money in the January sales but kidding myself I’m saving money….

Print’s dead, isn’t it? Why bother? Well, I’m bloody glad you did. As with everything else you produce, its quality was immediately obvious, and it’s a great commitment from you to keeping the things that matter alive. As someone with ink in his veins, ordering it was an easy decision to make (the voucher went towards a wax ’n’ wool vest – also brilliant), and the magazine itself is a great read. I’ll be there for issue 2… and the rest. Keep up the good work.

A good eclectic read, something for everyone (well, most of us anyway) and like everything Hebtroco, beautifully and thoughtfully made. Plus if you use the voucher, it’s free. Nice.

Great mix of content in small reads, really good to see something different that isn’t the usual bollocks ‘men’s’ magazine full of ads bombarding you with overpriced shite. Nice to see Drew Millward get some well deserved exposure too. And I needed some jeans so it was technically free bar the postage

If you don’t get it then don’t get it. If you do then do….
You’re missing out and if you’re already here then the £20 voucher makes it free. Free! It’s great too! It’s different, it’s interesting and nice to behold!
Will that do Brant?

I love a proper magazine that is well written, has great pics, has a mix of views, articles & subjects, is fun, and a pleasure to hold. Magazines that fully meet my criteria are very hard to find today. However, the magazine world has changed with the timely introduction of “Bother”. I’ve also spent my £20 voucher that was inside on a stylish and well made top from Hebtroco. Am looking forward to issue 2 already. Many thanks to the team that has thought of this and put it together!

Really enjoyed the mag, gave me a non specific feeling of nostalgia, from a combination of the writing, illustration, paper and smell of the ink!
Recommended. Also the £20 voucher makes it a free read after I treated myself to the Railway jacket.

Really entertaining collection of articles, some of more interest than others but I read it cover to cover.

Thought magazines were dead and buried in this day and age but decided to take a punt on this. Very glad I bothered! Great articles, brilliant reviews of stuff I’m genuinely interested in. As others have said it’s technically free as you get a £20 gift voucher with it, great socks by the way! Will definitely be ordering issue 2! Great work guys!

I enjoyed the quality of design, writing and subjects in the first issue. Having a physical copy was particularly gratifying, it matches the Hebtroco ethos perfectly. I’ve saved a couple of articles to read at my leisure but would recommend grabbing a copy – it’s effectively free as I used the enclosed voucher as well. Looking forward to the next issue, thanks Ed and brant!

Offcumden adopted Yorkshire man here… couldn’t resist a ‘freebie’ with new double black iron shirt. Seriously impressed by the work that must have gone into putting Bother together. What seemed destined to sit by the downstairs toilet now sits with pride on the living room coffee table. Weekend visitors even tried to leave with my copy… d*cks. Looking forward to issue 2. More beer corner articles please!

Big fan of HTC stuff. This magazine delivers on all their usual promises of quality. The stories are good, and the advertising feels pretty inoffensive.
I usually get an eye roll from my partner over “the weird small companies”, however, got a good recommendation for sungless from the magazine. So I guess succeeds in one of it’s aims.
Good work!

Great magazine, initial flick through to identify articles that instantly appealed to me,then over a couple of weeks read cover to cover.
Really really great and interesting reading.

There are lots of things I love about magazines, but two in particular – how they smell/feel and what’s inside them.
Bother ticks all of those boxes, and then some. It’s taken me to quieter corners of the house on a few occasions to read another great article and just enjoy the feel of weighty paper in my hands.
The voucher is great (love the new t-shirt!) but I’d have bought the mag anyway.
Keep doing this please.

This is a lovely magazine, it is full of interesting articles and comes with a £20 voucher code making it effectively free. You can’t go wrong.

I haven’t bought a mag since the demise of FHM. Don’t judge me, it was a quality read.
Decided to have a punt on this, I mean, it’s technically free, so nothing to lose..
The quality is first rate, stock, print colours, all spot on.
The content is superb, genuinely good reading. All killer, no filler.

With a great choice of articles covering a wide breadth interests, the Hebtroco team have gotten me into bother. From Van life to Vintage clothing it’s given me inspiration in a few areas! Nice to see Gary Inman back in the world of print, anyone familiar with Sideburn will be more than happy with his latest editorial venture. – Long Live Print! (And £20 vouchers)

Interesting articles written interestingly.
I keep it in the bog.

What a most excellent magazine! It just feels like a Boneshaker and I’ll collect these like I have several decent publications over the years. BZ to you both.

Got my copy today. Amazingly quick service. Have to say that it is beautifully produced as are all Hebtroco items. Looking forward to sitting in the garden and relaxing with some fascinating articles. Maybe put a crossword puzzle or two in next time. Nice work fellas.

It was always going to be good. Reminds me of Level magazine (RIP 4130 publishing) with a really interesting mix of stories, tales that would be regaled in the pub. An Edventure to pick up buttons to be delivered in London via Germany, or Van Life is shit are personal highlights.
Beautiful thick matte paper quality, great photos, and articles. What’s more, it comes with a £20 off voucher code, bonus! I look forward to issue 2. Print certainly isn’t dead.
