Don’t sweat it. When the mercury rises you don’t have to shelf your selvedge. The denim force is so strong at HebTroCo that we saw it as top priority to get some shorts made up in our favourite lightweight cotton-linen denim from Candiani.

Cut to be airy not thigh huggers. Elasticated for minimum faff – no need to be hot and bothered.

What is Selvedge?

Selvedge is old-style denim woven on narrow vintage looms. It typically has a more characterful appearance and a higher level of quality than mass-produced full width denim.

Unlike full width denim, the selvedge loom weaves the outside edge together. This is the stripe you see in selvedge garments. In the 125 Shirt, you can find the stripe inside the placket.

No Plastic in this elastic

It wasn’t easy. You could even say it was a bit of a stretch…

Elastic – the hidden plastic in your garments. Turns out there’s better option, but like our plastic-free buttons, most people would argue that we’d be mad to opt for something so expensive.

The per meter price of the stuff inside your Squad Shorts is a lot more expensive than conventional elastic. Some may argue that the difference in cost is prohibitive.

It’s not our first rodeo in this arena, we experienced a similar arse clenching decision with our commitment to plastic-free buttons.

We’re constantly learning and adapting our garments for the better of the environment. Cutting corners may be cheaper and quicker, but this is no race. If we can make it better, we will. We advance as we learn.

Nothing really comes for cheap, something or someone ultimately pays the price. By using this wonder elastic we can sleep soundly in the knowledge that we’re not contributing to the status quo. It’s made right, made fair and made to be future friendly.

Denim woven by Candiani

Based in the beautiful countryside outside Milan, the Candiani denim mill is globally renowned for its commitment to the environment. Their approach to production innovation and sustainability is nothing short of exceptional. It’s no wonder they are considered the world’s most eco denim mill.

Environmental sustainability is at the forefront of all stages of production of Candiani denim. Using BCI cotton, a micro-plastics-free dye process, solar power and water recycling to name some of the process used.

Plant based (biodegradable, non toxic, microplastics-free) sizing compound is used in the dyeing process, replacing all hazardous chemicals that are commonly used in the denim industry.

Care Guide

The Squad Shorts are made from raw selvedge denim. Please follow our wash and care instructions to avoid f*cking them up.

Raw denim is not colourfast and requires special attention when laundering.

Ed washes his by soak washing in the bath to guarantee a lifetime of good looks (the shirt not him, it’s too late for that!)
