USB37 Wool Overshirt100% Recycled Wool
Woven in Oldham. Sewn in London. Soft, warm and properly tough dense English tweed that shrugs off abrasion, cuts out the wind and will keep its shape for years. Made from leftover wool fibre and yarn that would otherwise go to waste. The finished fabric is a rich colour melange - grey mist, ocean blues, blush tones and hints of yellow. The more you look, the more you see.
Reclaimed Wool. Nothing Wasted.
The USB37 is made from a beautiful woollen cloth made using fibres that would have otherwise gone to waste.
During the spinning process, small amounts of fibre and partly-made yarn are often left over inside the machinery. Normally, those leftovers can’t be used and would be discarded.
Instead, Mallalieus gathers these fibres and yarns, opens them back up into loose wool, blends them together, and runs them back through the spinning process to create fresh yarn. That yarn is then woven and finished into new cloth, just like any other fabric.
Nothing new is added. Nothing goes to landfill. It’s simply good wool, given another life.
A Timeless Piece of British Manufacturing
The USB37 is a perfect example of the pristine woollen cloth still produced in the UK. It’s the fourth edition in our USB series. Ed has worn his original USB34 through winter into spring, for walks over the moors, under his jacket on the motorbike, trips out to town. Still looks as good as the day it was new.

Origins of the USB
This overshirt’s name is a merging of US (USA, a nod to this style’s origins) and B (British, from the wool it’s made from). Like many of our garments, we often look to the past to inform our design choices, favouring features and styles that have earned their status as vintage by surviving decades of wear. In the case of the USB overshirt we took our lead from a WW2 US Army shirt developed for wear in cold weather. Perfect really for life on the Pennines – a HebTroCo benchmark.
