These are our jeans cut in Bedford cord – a cloth renowned for its incredible durability. It’s been used for generations in hard-wearing applications like equestrian clothing and upholstery, which tells you a lot about its strength. But when you actually handle it, you might be surprised. It’s not coarse or rugged. It’s soft, comfortable and easy to wear from day one.
Like denim, moleskin and corduroy, Bedford cord is a fabric we’ve chosen for its character. It has a distinctive textured finish and a pleasing depth of colour, here in what we’re calling Pennine Peat Brown – a deep earthy tone inspired by the moorland landscapes close to home.
Despite the name, Bedford cord isn’t corduroy. At a glance the ridges can look similar, but they’re made in a completely different way. Corduroy’s stripes come from cut pile, while Bedford cord’s ridges are woven directly into the cloth. The result is a fabric with structure, strength and a subtle texture that ages beautifully.
Bedford cord has become one of our favourite outerwear fabrics. We’ve used it for jackets, chinos and now these jeans – bringing together a familiar five-pocket style with a cloth that offers something a little different from the everyday.

Woven in Turkey for Brisbane Moss, a historic British cloth manufacturer, once based in Todmorden, now in Burnley. Brisbane Moss-commissioned cloth is a seal of quality. - 5-button fly

of which 80% is recycled. No toxic finishes. HebTroCo skull top button. Made by Berning in Germany. - Strong bar tack reinforcements
for strength and durability all around, stronger than rivets. - 100% cotton 11oz heavyweight pocketing

Cut and sewn for us in Walthamstow, London by Blackhorse Lane Atelier. They have the reputation of making outstanding quality jeans and jackets, all with an exceptional finish.
Like us BLA are small scale and independent. They are deeply rooted in their local community and are committed to supporting it through employment and creative projects.
