Making a t-shirt in Britain: How hard is it?
Turns out it’s pretty tough. It’s been two years since our Manchester supplier sadly went bust. Since then, we have rejected countless cloth samples and manufacturers. There’s been swearing, frustration and we almost gave up. It’s been heavy, but we want a heavyweight t-shirt, so maybe it has to be.
A t-shirt is like bread…
The more simple something is the more clearly it shows any faults. A t-shirt can’t hide bad cloth or poor sewing skills.
Good restaurants serve good bread and you know when you taste it that care has been taken even over the most basic element. The rest of the meal is based on this. And so it is with a clothing company.
Just because it’s basic doesn’t mean it’s easy or cheap to make. Fast fashion has filled the market with cheap stuff and got us used to wearing lower quality clothes that don’t last. We’ve chosen our own way.
Persistence was key and we are proud to present a t-shirt that stands up for itself. It meets all our requirements in both make and cloth quality. It will stay looking and feeling good for years.
It's in the details
-
300gsm 100% cotton jersey from Italy.
-
Rib neck
95% cotton 5% elastane. When we can find an alternative to this elastane content, that gives the customer a t-shirt that lasts a long time we will use that. Until then we’re making something that will last, after all something is only sustainable if it lasts the hammer from wearing and washing. -
Sumptuous and soft raised finish on the inside
Your skin will love it! -
‘Chalk’ colour. It’s not fridge white.
The cloth’s swatch colour is Sbiancato, a type of Italian hard cheese. It’s a bit of a mouthful, so we opted for chalk. If you can’t have cheese, have chalk instead!

Top notch T’s from HebTroCo. These knock your standard T-shirt out of the park. Feels amazing on, no flimsy material here. Do yourself a favour and get yourself one (or more) of these. You will not be disappointed.
