Sorry you missed it.

Classic nautical Guernsey style made using the wool from sheep in Yorkshire. 100% UK manufactured. Worsted spun yarn, finished and then knitted all within 119 miles. Roll edge neck, cuff and hem add just enough flair without going full Lionel Blair. Complex, subtle colour tones and a striking but understated pattern, stand alongside soft wool and a satisfyingly textured pattern to make this a king of jumpers.

Make yourself comfortable I’m going to spin you a yarn…

The stars aligned on the day that Alan, from Laxtons yarn spinners, came to visit. He’d seen us banging on about making in the UK and being bothered about where materials are sourced and he felt strongly that the provenance of his Sheepsoft yarn was the perfect match for us.

He told us that the yarn was made from the wool of two breeds of sheep in the Yorkshire Dales. This immediately had us on the hook. That this special yarn is both soft and hardwearing had us swallowing the line and sinker.

With the globalised economy we’re so used to wool coming from the other side of the world, that to be offered UK sourced wool that’s also soft was an opportunity we weren’t going to miss.

A century of spinning excellence…

Laxtons are speciality worsted and fancy yarn spinners and have been for over 100 years. Their mill is near Bradford in Baildon, West Yorkshire. Wool comes from the exquisite Bluefaced Leicester for softness and Masham for durability.

Knitted in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

This jumper is a tangible example of the way that clothing can be made sustainably. There’s full traceability allowing us to produce a natural, renewable and ultimately biodegradeable garment.

The process supports UK farmers and manufacturers, whilst maintaining high levels of animal welfare.

Sheep to yarn all happens within 50 miles. Yarn to finished jumper in 69 miles. Jumper to HebTroCo in 68 miles.

That’s not bad is it?

A beautiful, well-made and warm woolen jumper. If you’re looking for a garment to give off the vibe of a Norwegian fisherman who’s also a part-time architect, this is the jumper for you. A+

An absolutely beautiful item of clothing. Heavy, solid, warm, tightly constructed, lovely attention to detail. I absolutely love it. I’m confident it will last decades if I look after it. When I put it on I immediately feel a primal urge to catch a haddock or sink the Bismarck.

Just have to add more. Currently in a town called Mt Macedon, Victoria, Australia. It’s 11 outside (probably warm for Yorkshire) but I am only wearing my guernsey and it’s doing the job of a jacket. It’s amazing. Really love the tight stitching and the better half has given compliments. Would love to see this in a chocolate brown one day!

Received my jumper today and first impressions are love it – great denimy blue tones in the colour, reassuringly heavy, instant favourite jumper status. I’m usually XL and the XL I ordered fits perfectly. Just trying to decide what to go for next

Very happily purchased another jumper based on the quality of the big red and big orange. Once again, I was absolutely thrilled. Firstly, there is a beautiful smell of wool (lanolin), the thickness is impressive, and the tight stitching makes this a beautiful jumper. The guernsey style is so unique and this is such a wonderful product. I’ll be wearing it non stop and will contemplate another one. Love what these guys and girls are doing here.
