Drovershirt100% Wool
Hike the hills then go to town in your Drovershirt. The hardy, fine wool overshirt that will outlast and upstage any polyester imitation. Designed on our cutting table in Calderdale and made to our pattern in Leyton, East London. British-woven wool cloth from the Mallalieus mill in Delph, West Riding of Yorkshire. Patterned with a beautiful glen check - black and ecru from a distance but up close blue, grey and bronze. A truly HebTroCo overshirt that's clean in design and bursting with utility. Enormous side seam pockets and inside “bag for life” pockets.
We’ll start posting Drovershirts from 14th October.
The Drovershirt’s name is a nod to the old Drovers’ roads that were once the main thoroughfares for moving livestock around these parts. The rearing of sheep and the trading of their fleeces fuelled the weaving industry and subsequent industrial boom that shaped our Northern towns forever.
To the fast fashion industry model we say STAND AND DELIVER
We stand apart from your race-to-the-bottom. We deliver quality and ethos.
Natural fibres are what we’re about at HebTroCo and we call on you, our customers, for support.
We’ve been busy behind the scenes sourcing cloth, designing, sampling, tweaking, wearing and testing from our base here on the Pennines. British weaving is not dead. The machinery and technical expertise endures and we’re lucky that one of the best in the country is only a 30 minute drive from our unit.
The Drovershirt is made from a deadstock 100% wool cloth that we found in the warehouse of the Mallalieus mill. ‘Deadstock’ refers to surplus fabric that would otherwise go to waste. We love putting this leftover cloth to use. Making quality garments and reducing textile waste at the same time.
