Sorry you missed it.

Chore jacket functionality, overcoat style. The Bob Job gives you the best of both worlds. Now in a satisfyingly soft 100% cotton Bedford cord cloth.

Amelia designed the Bob Job from scratch as a brand new coat pattern. Made for us by Bob and his team in Leicester. It encapsulates all the style of great vintage American ones that we’ve geeked out over in dusty shops and collector magazines.

Longer than a jacket with enough room to fit layers underneath. No need to size up, buy your usual size.

Three outside patch pockets (pen holder in chest one) plus an inside chest pocket.

Corozo nut buttons, made by Courtney & Co in the Cotswolds.

Compact collar that you can wear up or down, buttoned like a shirt or open like lapels.

Double button holes to adjust the cuffs. Dazzle people with your cuffing skills as you use the single button to ingenious effect.

A Proper Bob Job

A bob job is a motorcycle, not fully custom like a chopper, but cut down with loads of weight taken out of the stock build. It’s just the same as the bob hairstyle, where the cut is a cropped version, less weight but more style.

It’s a nice story, but this hasn’t really got anything to do with this coat. It has, however, been proudly made by BOB and his team in Leicester… and a JOB is the same as a chore isn’t it?

Bob Job Chore Coat / Bedford Cord

What is Bedford Cord?

It looks like a flattened cord but it’s not a corduroy at all. Cord has a raised finish that’s cut into wales, whereas Bedford cord is woven with thicker filling yarns as well as thinner ones.

This durable and hardwearing cloth was first made in Britain by Flemish weavers in the late 15th century. It adopted the name Bedford as that was the town it originally came from.

Like moleskin, Bedford cord isn’t used by many brands, probably because of price. We love the weight, the soft feel, the long-lasting qualities as well as the way the fabric drapes when worn, something you don’t get with lightweight or cheaper cloth.

We’ve sourced the Bedford cord cloth from Brisbane Moss in Todmorden.

    It’s a good un
I’ve only had it a week but I’ve worn it every day. Over a shirt with the collar down for work, over a T-shirt with collar up for my Thursday night pub trip.
Inside pocket swallows my wallet and phone.
The cloth is lovely and soft so it reels great and doesn’t look like cardboard when you wear it. I will defo keep an eye out for other products in this cloth.
    Nice one.
