USB34 Wool Overshirt
Sold out and discontinued.
Sorry you missed it.
Wool from British sheep, woven into cloth in Yorkshire and expertly sewn into our overshirt in London. Truly British made to last and not just “inspired by” the great traditions of our land.
Fresh colours like the greens of the uplands where we live and where this cloth is woven. The twill weave combined with subtle multi-coloured yarn gives you smart and rugged feel, all in one.
What’s with the name? USB34 breaks down as follows: US for the pattern origin in the US Army. B because it’s sourced, woven and sewn in Britain. 34 because the pattern was first made in 1934, yes that’s 90 years of looking good!
Sometimes simple is best and with cloth this good you don’t need any extras.
Two buttoned chest pockets. Looks great open or buttoned up.
And how smart are those horn buttons? Made in the Cotswolds too.

Woven by Mallalieus
One of Britain's last vertical textile mills
The Mallalieus mill has been weaving woollen fabrics since 1863. Today they remain a family-run operation, managing all processes in the production from the initial processing of the raw wool fibres to dyeing and spinning.
US military style, made our way
We haven’t had a wool overshirt in the range for ages, customers were asking for one, so the hunt began.
All good garments start with excellent cloth so Amelia and Ed went to Delph, near Oldham (but in Yorkshire just to be clear!) to visit Mallalieus. This mill makes some of the most highly regarded woven wool cloth in the world. They came back with a beautiful green based weave, full of variation and texture when examined closely, that is both warm and hardwearing.
The obvious choice was to make our version of an overshirt from our vintage archive.
90 years ago this shirt pattern was developed for the US Army for use in cold weather environments. Perfect really for life on the Pennines, which is a HebTroCo benchmark. Ed wore it last winter for walks over the moors, under his jacket on the motorbike and for trips out to town.
Following the original military design brief the USB 34 is easy and comfortable to wear and move around in, it will keep you warm, it will wear well and keep looking good unlike the mass market synthetic overshirts that are everywhere.
