Rascal Vest100% cotton dry wax / 10oz
A hard-working outerwear vest with British Army roots. Layer up, layer down, this vest earns its keep all year round. Rugged waxed cotton outer, beautiful recycled 100% wool lining, natural horn buttons. Warm, tough, practical, and made using honest materials that give you proper meat for your money. Designed on our Calderdale cutting table, cut and sewn for us in Birmingham.
The Rascal Vest takes its cues from an old British Army leather jerkin in our vintage archive. Originally made for grafting in cold weather, carrying awkward loads without complaint. Worn, beaten, relied upon.
We’ve taken that idea and dragged it into the present, HebTroCo style.
We’ve trimmed the length for a shorter, more wearable cut and switched out the leather for a waxed 100% cotton outer by Dundee-based Halley Stevensons. That rustic brown colour will only get better with age and wear. It’s windproof, shrugs off a bit of rain, and has a drier handle than traditional wax so it won’t leave your other layers feeling like a greasy bag of chips. To the touch it feels cool and substantial, with a subtle waxy sheen and a peach-like surface.
Inside, things get really special.
The lining is a beautiful recycled wool cloth from Mallalieus, just down the road from us in Delph. It’s 100% wool too – not one of those half-and-half polyester knock-offs. This is the kind of fabric you’d normally expect to see on the outside of a garment – it really is that good – but we’ve put it on the inside because the Rascal Vest isn’t just a façade for looking good. It’s made to be the best it can be all the way through. A pleasure to put on every time. Insulating and tough.
Pockets!
Two external paddle pockets, like on our Jacksnipe jacket, both wool-lined on the front face, nice and cosy. Inside the vest, you’ll find two generous chest pockets, big enough for a phone.

Product Care
Out of the bag, you’ll find that your Rascal Vest will have a cheeky fold line across the mid bar. Do not despair. This is the vest’s waxy character doing its thing. Redistribute the wax by gently warming with a hair drying and using your hands to release the fold. Or hang the vest in a warm room for the crease to naturally ‘fall out’.
Do not machine wash. Do not dry clean. Do not iron.
Lay flat and gently brush away any dirt using a soft bristled brush or cloth. Dampen a cloth with cold water and spot clean. Hang to dry.

I’m genuinely impressed with the Rascal Vest — Received this morning, you can feel the quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design that HebTroCo is known for and put into this. Looks the business with a T shirt or jumper and layered under my Jacksnipe and paired with my GVNR-14s it’s that perfect blend of function and timeless style. Highly recommend if you’re after a vest with real character and lasting quality!
