It is without doubt my greatest clothing purchase EVER I don’t want to wear the thing out just in case but will have every belief it would take a night in a dirty rock bar in its stride 7 days a week and come out looking far better than you would.

HebTroCo originally started with moleskin trousers & this wonder fabric continues to be a key part of our range.

It’s warm, soft, looks great and wears well.

No, moleskin isn’t made from moles…

Moleskin does not COME from moles, it just feels like a mole’s skin.

This tough heavy fabric is made from densely woven cotton, initially looped, then sheared which creates a short soft pile on the upper side. It looks and feels a bit like chammy and some sorts of velvet, but is actually far tougher than either.

Moleskin is popular for hunting, building work, and countryside use due to its ability to shrug off damage, keep clean, be “quiet” in use, as well as being breathable, and comfortable even when wet.

Originally developed in the industrial days, moleskin was used as an alternative to woollen cloth for jackets and trousers. It was chosen for its warmth and hard wearing qualities. Later it was adopted by country people for its ability to resist thorns as well as the cold wind.

Warm and wind resistant. Our moleskin garments are ideal for autumn, winter and early spring wear. They’re durable and tough, and ideal for outdoor use whatever the weather.

Finished with natural buttons, not plastic.

People tried to put us off. They told us about the trouble and expense of using UK-made buttons… but we ignored them.

It turns out they were right…  Our buttons are about 50 times more expensive than a plastic mass-produced button from overseas.

They are also 50 times better.

Our buttons are made of Corozo palm nuts. They are harvested from sustainable rainforests in Ecuador, where trees are planted and maintained rather than being cut down.

This means that our nuts are green and they are very special. As well as being natural the material is tough, takes colour well and gives a pleasing marbled effect.

Care Guide

Machine washable 30º, slow or preferably no spin, air dry. Don’t tumble dry. Don’t Be A Dick.

This thing is a bit of a beaut.

Great as a lightweight-ish jacket over a t-shirt, nicely warm, can deflect sustained draughts. Definitely greenish grey. Reminds me of a bit of a donkey jacket I had in 1983, but with the purely utilitarian DNA removed and a dose of subtle style substituted instead.

Looking forwards to it getting colder as this works perfectly under the gunpowder snipe.

Downside – because I have this, I resisted getting the grey moleskin iron shirt with the brass poppers…now sold out in my size…which makes me a marmalade dropping swingleberry of enormous proportions.

    Anyway, clownery aside, great purchase.

Absolutely perfect in every way. I haven’t come across a better overshirt. Beautifully made both inside and out- nicely cut and sewn. The brushed moleskin is thick, soft and warm- feels fantastic on. Great for all seasons- this will be perfect even in summer for camping trips, sitting around the fire in the evening. Spot on fit across chest, shoulders, sleeve length and overall length. I’m a 38 inch chest, 6ft, slim and the medium is as good a fit as could be- a better fit for me than the iron shirt which has slightly longer sleeves. As others have mentioned, unique colour- green grey that goes with pretty much everything. Thanks so much- I try not to buy too many clothes but the odd well made garment that will last years- this certainly feels like it falls into that category.

Hardcore! So thick and weighty it almost stands up on it’s own. Really windproof. Wore it over a jumper on a snowy December Helsinki birthday night out – minus 13 with the wind chill and was toasty. As mentioned by others it looks different colours in different lights. Which is nice.
I disagree about the sizing though – I had to return my medium for a large even though the size chart said I was medium. Just too tight across the back for me.

This is a lovely overshirt, soft to the touch and beautifully made. I usually wear a 38R jacket and the medium fits me perfectly. It’s easy to wear, lightweight but warm, and looks great with jeans or trousers. To me it appears more like a dark green than grey but either way it looks fabulous. As with the jeans, the quality of the finish is exceptional.

My wife stumped up for this on my birthday after I fannied around and missed the boat first time round – so had to wait for the re-stock.
I’m 5,11 and a medium and this fits perfectly (m). I’ve been out and about in it while others are reaching for their down-filled uniwear and it’s been lovely and warm.
It looks the bxxxxxxx (business) worn smart or casual if that makes sense, but the best part is the colour.
The Morecambe Grey seems to change with the light to match whatever you’re wearing underneath. With a white T it’s grey and then with a blue T it’s a cross between grey and green. Who knows what colour it actually is?
Attention to detail is on the button… literally. They’re proper old skool, while the collar is the perfect size and will always be a classic.
I haven’t been caught in rain yet so it’ll probably need a waterproof over the top, but IT IS thorn-proof – which my city-dwelling mates seem to love as a selling point.
Overall a cracking piece of kit I reckon I’ll have for years to come.

A really outstanding over-shirt. The small fits me perfectly (5’10”, 155 lbs/176 cm, 70 kg; light-framed old dude). Just has a beautiful feel and you know it’ll be rock-solid for a long time–in common with other products from these guys. The colour is a pale grey (with just a hint of steely blue to my eye) and will look good paired up with jeans, khaki chinos and more. Getting “out of season” now: it is June, so I have to hope! Though maybe a light summer jacket for when the sun goes low? (or doesn’t bother that day at all!) When the season comes, this shirt will be a fixture for me.
