From colossal f*ck up to firm favourite

The very first Iron Shirt was a big mistake. We’d intended to make it from 8oz denim, but sent the wrong roll of selvedge to the factory and ended up with 16oz shirts instead. Thus, the Iron Shirt was born.

In this business we’ve got used to dealing with problems. After all we started the company just as the Brexit vote happened followed by Covid and the non stop apocalypse that’s followed. Keep calm and carry on making really good stuff is the mantra.

Unlike the original, this latest evolution of the Iron Shirt is everything we intended it to be. The only mistake to be made is not buying one when you have the chance.

It’s in the details

100% BCI cotton rugged twill cloth by Halley Stevensons of Dundee.

Artica waxed cotton finish is rain resistant but doesn’t feel waxy.

Press stud fasteners throughout.

Run and fell side seams, shoulder and yoke seam across chest.

Hang loop inside neck.

Proper pockets

Two invisible side seam pockets. They’re big.

Two even bigger inside pockets. Forgotten your bag for life? You’ll save face by having these pockets when you need to do some tactical shopping.

Two outside chest pockets.

150 years of waxed cotton cloth innovation

Dundee-based Halley Stevensons are the world’s leading manufacturer and innovator of high quality waxed cotton fabrics. With over 150 years of experience under their belt they are truly experts in their field.

We share similar values with Halleys; we both love making stuff in Britain, we value quality and both of us are striving to improve sustainability in the fashion market.

Care Guide

Hand wash at 30 degrees.

Wash separately. Colour may run.

Line dry.

Do not tumble dry.

Cool iron. No steam.

What happens to the waxed finish after washing?

Washing treated garments can reset the cloth to its original untreated state. Please consider if washing is really necessary before throwing your Iron Shirt in the machine. We have found that spot cleaning with a damp cloth is just as effective at removing unwanted marks (and saves water!)

You can reproof your Iron Shirt with a dry wax reproofing spray.

Fit & Sizing Guide

Ed wears a size medium shirt in the photos. He’s 5’8″ and 10.5 stone.

Will fit a sweatshirt or light jumper underneath.

Because it’s a thick 1kg shirt, it feels more fitted and so if you want it to feel loose, go up a size.

Any questions at all please email us and we’ll do our best to guide you.

Arrived today and went straight out in it. It’s the bollocks… heavy, robust and comfortable. Could imagine wearing it almost every day in one way or another and the pockets are enormous so no need for a man bag. Colour is sweet as too.
