Jute Iron Shirt15oz 100% cotton twill
Heavy duty twill with a dry wax finish. Abrasion resistant, rain resistant and tough. Generous practical pockets including our famous “bag for life” inside pockets. Cut and sewn for us in London. Designed in Calderdale.
The Iron Shirt is a HebTroCo classic that has been a best seller in our range for several years.
Made in a variety of cloth types and featuring lots of large pockets, it has the cloth weight and utility usually found only in jackets.
The great thing about the Iron Shirt is that it looks simple but still stands out. The practicality of massive pockets is hidden keeping things unfussy. The cloth weight and design structure give a strong, solid look. It’s simple but at the same time striking.
Designed on our cutting table in Calderdale by Amelia and made exclusively for us in London by our friends at Tower Garments.

Size Guide
In the photos: Ed is 5’8″ / 10.5 stone and wears a size Medium.
Will fit a sweatshirt or light jumper underneath.
Because it’s a thick 1kg shirt, it feels more fitted and so if you want it to feel loose, go up a size.

Product Care
Hand wash at 30 degrees.
Wash separately. Colour may run.
Line dry.
Do not tumble dry.
Cool iron. No steam.
What happens to the waxed finish after washing?
Washing treated garments can reset the cloth to its original untreated state. Please consider if washing is really necessary before throwing your Iron Shirt in the machine. We have found that spot cleaning with a damp cloth is just as effective at removing unwanted marks (and saves water!)
You can reproof your Iron Shirt with a dry wax reproofing spray.

Oh boy, it’s a beauty. Roomy enough for a wool jumper underneath but tailored enough that it’ll look great just with a white tee. Unbelievably well constructed, should the zombie hordes come knocking any day soon (these days, who knows) then this is the shirt I’ll be grabbing on my way out the door. It’ll outlast me without doubt.

Quality overshirt with a look and feel more on the jacket than a shirt. Fabric is initially very stiff and needs some wear in. Overall very boxy cut for me, who is relatively tall (189cm), such that I needed to size up to XL to make the arm length (barely) long enough. So this is for the short and/or stocky folks, not for the long armed 🙂 Mixed experience with the customer service to be honest, with an “in stock” item shipped only one full month after order, and the refund of shipping fees that was promised as an apology never happened….

Glad it got to Denmark for you – Very sorry for this issue – thanks for the feedback. I have refunded your shipping fees. /brant

Wow, I just got home from work and opened my parcel, everything exceeded my hopes.
Fantastic material, design, construction, feel and fit.
Can’t wait to wear it in over the next couple of decades, suspect it’ll outlive me.
My God, the pockets, plenty of room for multiple EDC’s.
Worth every penny.
Just got to save up for my Selvedge Jeans now.
Thanks HebTroCo

After falling down the rabbit hole of UK made clothing, I found a post in the dark recesses of Reddit directing me here to look at Jeans. I have been after a decent Overshirt for a long time and I can definitely say I have found it.
The fit and feel of this was outstanding from the off, and I am really looking forward to see how it breaks in over the next years and decades.
The quality of this is on a par with, or much better, than vintage chore coats that I have (back when stuff was made properly). The way this is put together screams long-lasting quality, and attention to detail is everywhere.
I too have had a lot of compliments on this, people impressed with the cut and the fabric.
The pockets are immensely useful and have stuff stashed in them all the time.
I have got a Moleskin Iron Shirt on the way and I imagine it won’t be long before a Denim one joins the family.

Received my Iron Jute shirt a few weeks ago and it’s a real beauty. There’s no arguing with the quality of the materials or construction. It is a heavyweight but in a reassuring way and not so much that you feel you’re dragging it around and after a handful of wears is softening up and moving with me nice and naturally. I’m 6 feet tall, 41 inch chest, fairly broad shoulders and long arms, 13 stone in weight and I went for a medium. It’s slightly snugger than I expected across the shoulders but not a problem and may yet still give more. I’d suggest, as is hinted on the product description to go up a size if you want to layer up beneath it. Good excuse for me to buy another one in large. In case anyone’s wondering, each of the inside pockets will easily take 4 cans of beer. Important to note. Thanks again guys. Magic!

I bought an “old” moleskin overshirt a couple of years ago and have been very happy with it
I was concerned when the description for the Jute and other moleskin overshirts stated they were more fitted and to upsize if a looser fit was required
I made an enquiry about the arm length on a larger size as I am “Mr Short-arms” and was assured that the fasteners would hold at the wrist and shouldn’t be an issue – went for the larger size Jute
The jacket is comfortable, fits nicely and although the sleeves “back up a bit”, as expected, it’s not excessive and looks ok
I love the hand & the large inner “shopping” pockets
Again a lovely piece of kit that should last for years
Sorry for waffling on & thanks again

Just got the jute iron shirt; it’s a cracking colour, similar to the duck colour on traditional US workwear. It is also as heavy and will last forever, only looking better as it ages. Another purchase I am delighted with from Hebtroco. One of the high street brands will sell you a denim shirt for £75, within 2 years it will be gubbed, quality costs initially but it evens out in the end. Lastly; Halleys ( the company who supplied the material) are as good a firm as you can get, as a Dundee boy I am delighted to see them getting a new lease of life. They started originally to meet the demand for sails and have survived when the rest of Dundee’s once huge textile industry has withered. That’s thanks to companies like Hebtroco taking a punt on them; another reason to buy independent.

I have hasd the iron shirt in denim for a while, and its my favourite item of clothing, so when i saw this I had to have one. I think this might have now put the denim iron shirt into second place as my favourite garment becasue its so good. Really well made, will last a lifetime and rain resistant to boot. Love it

Amazing. Ordered at 2:30pm on Friday, arrived at 11am on Saturday. Stunning piece of kit. Perfect for the Scottish weather. And wearing to the pub. Highly recommended.

The shirt is excellent in every way – fit, utility, colour…ability to walk the dog. Such treasures come around rarely and no way was I missing the boat on this (I missed the first iteration of the cords and had to wait years for a re-release). Do yourself a solid and get one.

Definitely the best fuck up in my wardrobe. This shirt should go down in history on how to make the ultimate overshirt, in the history book of overshirts. You keep on outdoing yourselves, well done.
