Tasty denim and fine dining in Milan
You don’t get good clothes without first finding good cloth. Here’s some of the backstory on our denim.
Six years ago we made our first denim jeans, but couldn’t get a consistent quality of cloth that was made in Britain. We looked into Europe for a solution and have almost exclusively been using Italian denim since then.
HebTroCo now buys more denim from the Candiani mill than any other clothing company in the UK. Recently we travelled to Milan to see our friends at the mill to find the denim for our 2025 range, eat good food and even take a dip in a chilly Lake Maggiore.

At an industrial scale that we don’t see in Britain, Candiani is spinning, dyeing, weaving and finishing 24 hours a day every day of the week. The mill is situated in a natural park and the work done inside reflects this location. Environmental standards are the best in the world, regenerative or organic cotton is ethically sourced, renewable energy use is maximised, toxic dye processes are avoided and staff are paid proper wages. The denim they produce is made to last. These standards don’t come at the cheapest prices so we pay more to buy the best.

We looked at and ordered lots of new denim from Candiani. We’ve made garment samples already and we will be launching these new products throughout 2025. A selvedge denim jacket, 16oz indigo jeans, new model of black selvedge jeans and an all new Iron Shirt, summer weight jeans and jacket in a lovely tan brown selvedge and a short sleeve shirt are all on the list.

Everyday standards of food as well as fashion are high in Italy. There’s always a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cheeseboard is never a supermarket special, hot chocolate is made from cocoa and the pizza is amazing.

We also took a day out to visit the Premiere Vision Denim Show in Milan to see what else is on the market and met up with our pal and jeans maker Han from Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, where all our jeans are made. Obviously we enjoyed a great lunch, thanks for treating us Han.
