Real GoodInfluences not influencers
The idea with this weekly post is to tell a story about something we love. These are the influences, rather than the influencers, that we pay attention to.
Take a look behind the scenes and get some context on our business. It might be offbeat, not always about clothes in general or a product in particular and definitely not something predictable. As such it is not something that the algorithm would choose, which makes it all the better. This is why we BOTHER.

In this photo Edward is weighing the arm of the record deck to make sure that exactly the right pressure is going onto the vinyl from the stylus.
Edward provided the custom analogue sound system for the Tokyo Jazz Joints listening event that we organised two weeks ago. He is a self confessed hifi nerd. At the end of the night, as the final record faded from high volume he came out with a kind of speech to the four of us at our table. He eloquently described what we’d all just been deeply immersed in. It was a gentle and heartfelt epiphany. It went something like this:
That was all analogue. The physical vibration of sound is stored in the grooves of a vinyl record as a physical texture. When a stylus passes over this surface it vibrates, recreating the same physical sound through an electrical signal, which is converted back to the original vibration by the speakers. It’s a physical process from start to finish. It’s not magic, but you could say that it is magical. Essentially this experience of listening to analogue sound resonates with us as real physical beings. We are hearing a real thing and it reminds us that we are real things too.
Life affirming moments can make you smile. Keep an eye out, they are all around and remember to let the smile break out.
Photos from a great night of analogue delights.
Edward is on Instagram as @club15soundselectors and is running a Jazz Kissa event at Leeds Jazz Festival at Galleria 23-25 May. See you there if you dig it.
