Two front pockets including our classic ‘secret pocket’ the same as in all our jeans and trousers. Single rear welted pocket.
British-made zip fly.
Continuous adjustable waist band.
Pre-washed so they have a nice soft finish and won’t shrink.
The Fatigue Shorts are made from a 100% cotton herringbone twill (HBT) cloth. This type of fabric was widely used by the US military for uniforms in the WW2 era and looked great doing it. The one we have selected for our Fatigue Shorts is a light 8oz weight so suited to warm weather. Perfect for shorts as it is for our summer weight Cargo Pants.
Like denim, HBT fades beautifully with wear, washing and age. The weave, zig zagging like the bones of a herring – has a fantastic texture and stands out more as the cloth fades.

Vintage army style meets HebTroCo design…
Amelia made the pattern for our Fatigue Shorts, styled with a loose upper leg cut and rectangular sewn front pockets just like classic US army Fatigue Pants. These military pants were made in their millions after WW2, through the Vietnam War and into the Cold War era.
Obviously ours are shorts, but still carry the original military design brief – light, comfy and cut to allow a good range of movement.
They have good sized pockets and belted waist adjusters to avoid the bulk of an actual belt.
Casual shorts rather than a more athletic style.
100% cotton rather than a recycled stretch synthetic cloth.
They’re also a little bit longer in the leg.
You will need to wear under crackers with the Fatigue Shorts (unless you’re going Commando) as there isn’t a “ball bag” liner.

I have a pair of the v1 action shorts and these are a little less snug but still cut above the knee so they feel nice and airy

Wife wanted me out of work shorts 24/7/365 – all good as ‘holiday shorts’, but no belt loops means no tether for m’terriers – something to clip onto would b’welcome

These are great. The material feels reassuringly solid but very breathable so they’ll be perfect now that the weather is warming up. Very comfortable, pockets are well sized and positioned and the strap adjusters work nicely. That being said, I would prefer to see belt loops just to have the option of using a belt, but that’s my only negative, and that’s being nitpicky.

I’ve been wearing these shorts for 6 weeks or so now and love them. Reassuringly heavy beautiful herringbone cloth. Substantial pockets and great adjustable straps that are proper. I had to swop my size around because the size I ordered was wrong. I did use the size guide but if you’re inbetween sizes I would suggest size up. I am sure I will be wearing these for many summers to come
