Mistle Jacket / Toffee Brown

470gsm / 100% cotton

The Mistle is our contemporary take on vintage chore jackets. Made-to-last, made for best, and the rest. It’s a world away from the fast-fashion throwaway culture that’s become the norm. Quality cloth, considered design, cut and sewn right here in Britain. This edition is made from a weighty jumbo corduroy in a deliciously autumnal caramel bonfire-toffee brown. Tactile, robust and practical. Wear it smart, work it hard.

Bringing back made-to-last

Once upon a time, the jackets you wore to graft were genuinely built to last. We’ve got a few vintage European workwear pieces in our collection and we’ve used these as cues for the Mistle. The name? Well, instead of borrowing the common American term “chore jacket”, we’ve gone full Yorkshire and put our spin on it. “Mistle” is a farm outbuilding, a place to chuck your tools, and hang your work jacket, probably on a rusty peg nailed to the back of a well-weathered door.

The Mistle Jacket is not reproduction fashion or old-times cosplay, it’s designed and made for the now. A contemporary response to what we’ve learnt from the old stuff hung on our walls, the stuff that was always made-to-last.

Corduroy is a heavy woven cotton fabric. Hebden Bridge, where we’re based, is famous for once weaving it. During the Industrial Revolution, garments made of corduroy were the clothes of the people - the original workwear. Hardwearing, warm and long lasting, all the things clothes needed to be to get through long days at the mill or labouring in the field.
