Materials & Care
  • Selvedge denim woven by Candiani - Italian masters of denim, renowned for their environmental credentials.

  • Raw denim - Unwashed denim in its raw form. Richer in colour from the start, starchier on first wear. It also saves a lot of water, chemicals and electricity use which is more sustainable.
  • Real leather patch - that you can feed your belt under. Featuring skull artwork inspired by our local moorland flora.
  • 100% cotton 11oz heavyweight pocketing - Not your usual type that tears through. This stuff will last.
  • Solid brass buttons - Of which 80% is recycled brass. No toxic finishes. HebTroCo skull top button. Made by Berning in Germany.

Your HERC-16 jeans are made from raw selvedge denim. Please follow the wash and care instructions included with your order to avoid f*cking it up.

Raw denim is not colourfast and requires special attention when laundering.

For the best fades, washing less often will yield better results. Take a look at our denim care online guide for a comprehensive overview on what’s required.

Go all-out in a pair of HERCs. Max weight. Max roominess.

All-day comfort with plenty of room for big thighs and calves. And even on the runner beans the HERC scores high, a loose feel that flatters all forms. The gentle taper halts any billowing around your boots so you can step out quietly.

Like everything we do, the HERC-16 follow the HebTroCo formula of quality materials + quality make for a long-lasting reliable pair of jeans. Hardwearing selvedge denim as a base; five button fly with solid brass, precision engineered buttons; a chunky leather patch to feed your belt under; five pockets plus our signature “secret pocket” hidden in the left bag to safely stow your loose change.

The 16oz selvedge feels noticeably heavier than our other denim jeans. It’s raw, which means that it hasn’t undergone any finishing treatments after being woven (besides sanforising which stabilises shrinkage). Raw denim is richer in colour, starchier on first wear and in time will fade and shape to your body – a characteristic much loved by denim enthusiasts who appreciates the pure state of raw denim.

More about the make...

GOTS 100% Organic Cotton

Global Organic Textile Standard sets the bar for sustainably and ethically sourced organic cotton.

It is the most widely recognised voluntary certification for organic textiles. This stringent standard requires complete supply chain traceability, strong social compliance, and environmental management practices while banning the use of GMOs and highly hazardous chemicals.

Cotton arrives in its raw form at the Candiani mill. They manage every aspect of its transformation from raw fibre into denim cloth.

Denim from Candiani

Candiani are masters in their craft, producing some of the world’s best selvedge denim.

Environmental sustainability is at the forefront of all stages of production at Candiani. Their dye process is micro-plastics-free, they use solar power and water recycling, and all their cotton is BCI certified.

Most of the selvedge we use is Regenagri© certified denim (which supports regenerative agriculture) or 100% Organic Cotton. We are proud to be one of the first brands in the world to use Regenagri© denim cloth to make our jeans.

What is Selvedge denim?

Selvedge is a premium denim woven only on vintage shuttle looms.

Compared to modern projectile looms, selvedge looms are smaller, slower and very noisy, but the character and durability of the denim they produce is unmatched.

The loom’s low yield is why selvedge is considered a premium denim and not the go-to choice for mass-market jeans.

The word “selvedge” comes from “self-edged,” which describes how the loom finishes the edges of the denim.

In the video, Vic explains how selvedge denim is made and why it’s the HebTroCo denim of choice.

Made for us in London

Cut and sewn for us in Walthamstow, London by Blackhorse Lane Atelier. They have the reputation of making outstanding quality jeans with an exceptional finish.

Like us BLA are small scale and independent. They are deeply rooted in their local community and are committed to supporting it through employment and creative projects.

Why Pick HebTroCo Jeans?

Let’s face it… mainstream menswear has set the bar low for jeans quality. The race to cut costs has led to thinner denim, the introduction of stretch, and a loss of construction detail in favour of a “fits-all” blueprint.

We’ve taken a different path. All our jeans are made from 100% cotton raw denim, rigid, no stretch, so the fit has to come from the pattern rather than the fabric. Shape and balance are built into the design, rather than relying on stretch to do the work. No shortcuts – just proper denim, cut to fit well from the get-go.
