Some brands use ”vanity sizing” but we don’t. “Stretch” jeans from other brands might actually be several inches bigger than they say on the label.

1. Grab a pair of trousers that fit you & a tape measure.

2. Do up the top button & lay them flat on a table.

3. Measure across (inches) like the photo below:

4. Double that number & you have the waist size. Easy!

If you’re between sizes, we recommend going UP – so if your jeans measure 18.5 across go for a 38 not a 36.

A new style for HebTroCo in 15oz selvedge denim.

BRTR is the big brother of our bestselling GVNR jeans and has a flattering fit around the hips and bum with more space from the thighs down.

Loose straight leg for a fuller look without being baggy. Enough room for big thighs and calf muscles and easy to wear with boots or shoes.

Made from a raw selvedge denim in a broken twill weave from the Candiani mill in Italy. Dark indigo colour with a bluer shade than our other jeans.

The big brother of the GVNR

GVNR stands for Governor and BRTR stands for Brother. Think of BRTR as the GVNR’s big brother. 

‘Big’ because when you wear the BRTR you’ll find there’s more room in the hip, thigh, knee and leg opening. They inherit the GVNR mid-rise and flattering fit around the bum. Like all HebTroCo jeans, you’ll never be caught showing your crack!

When we launched the GVNR some of our friends commented that the fit wasn’t loose enough in the leg for them. For some it wasn’t the look they wanted, for others it was down to their supersized leg shape.

One mate in particular, Rille the Swede, sent us a pair of old worn out jeans to show the kind of fit he wanted and in a quality he couldn’t find anymore. This is something we see time and time again. People want well-made jeans that last, constructed from more substantial denim, just like they used to be able to buy.

When mainstream menswear began the race to make cheaper jeans they cut costs by using thin denim, often adding stretch content to the cloth and opting for mass produced styles, made with less attention to detail.

We’re bucking that trend with all our jeans and the BRTR fills the gap in our range of styles.

Raw denim

Unwashed denim in its raw form. Wear in your own fades

Sanforised

to limit first wash shrinkage. None in the waist. Up to 1″ in leg length (we include an extra inch to allow for this)

What makes a pair of BRTR-15?

GOTS 100% Organic Cotton

Global Organic Textile Standard sets the bar for sustainably and ethically sourced organic cotton.

It is the most widely recognised voluntary certification for organic textiles. This stringent standard requires complete supply chain traceability, strong social compliance, and environmental management practices while banning the use of GMOs and highly hazardous chemicals. 

Cotton arrives in its raw form at the Candiani mill. They manage every aspect of its transformation from raw fibre into denim cloth.

Candiani have been our primary denim supplier since 2019. Their approach to production innovation and sustainability is nothing short of exceptional. It’s no wonder they are considered the world’s most environmentally aware denim mill.

Your BRTR-15 are made from Candiani selvedge denim. What is selvedge?

Sustainability is at the forefront of all stages of production of Candiani denim. Using BCI cotton, a micro-plastics-free dye process, solar power and water recycling to name some of the process used.

Plant based (biodegradable, non toxic, microplastics-free) sizing compound is used in the dyeing process, replacing all hazardous chemicals that are commonly used in the denim industry

What is Selvedge denim?

Selvedge is a type of denim woven on vintage shuttle looms.

Compared to modern looms, selvedge looms weave at a slower tempo and narrower width, producing a lower yield of denim. This is why selvedge is more expensive and not usually the go-to choice for mass-market jeans makers. Selvedge is, however, inherently more characterful and hardier which trumps everything in our opinion.

Selvedge denim can be identified by its signature stripe. You can see it when you turn-up the cuff of the BRTR-15. This stripe is the edge of the denim cloth, which has been self-finished (or ‘self-edged’) by the loom. Watch the video to see how this is a different process to other looms.

Cut and Sewn for us in London

The BRTR-15 are made for us from our pattern by Blackhorse Lane Atelier in London. They have a reputation for making some of the very best jeans in the world. Like us they’re small scale, independent and value quality above all else.

No plastic in these jeans

All the fabrics and threads used in the BRTR-15 are made from naturally occurring, biodegradable materials: 100% cotton denim, 100% cotton pocketing and labels – all sewn together using Tencel™ thread derived from wood pulp.

The solid brass buttons can be removed and recycled when the jeans eventually reach their end of life. Stronger, harder wearing stitched bar tacks instead of metal rivets to provide reinforcement in key stress points.

Care

The BRTR-15 jeans are made from raw selvedge denim. Please follow the wash and care instructions included with your order to avoid f*cking them up.

Raw denim is not colourfast and requires special attention when laundering.

Sizing Guide

Ed is 5’8″ / 10.5 stone and wears 30 waist, 28 leg.

Turn-ups: We ship the BRTR-15 without a turn-up. If you prefer to wear your jeans with a permanent turn-up, choose a longer leg length to accommodate this. For example, if you’re a 30″ leg and you’d like to fold in a turn-up, choose a 32″.

Your HebTroCo jeans are made with an extra 1-inch in the leg to compensate for first wash shrinkage (e.g. a 30″ will measure 31″ before first wash). Any shrinkage will be in the leg, not the waist.
