Nothing off the shelf. All aspects of the belts are made from scratch from true raw materials, bought in and manufactured in Alex’s Edinburgh forge and workshop.

All belts are made to order and you can’t rush a good thing. Please allow a minimum of at least 28 days from placing your order to receiving your belt. We ship all our orders whole, so if you wish to add additional items to your order, you may wish to purchase these separately so we can ship them to you before the belt.

Embossed leather keeper
Buckle is saddle stitched onto leather strap by hand with waxed linen thread. Saddle stitching is a stronger method than machine sewn stitches.

Buckle is hand riveted to leather strap with 8 gauge copper saddlers rivets.

The Leather
The leather is bought from J & FJ Baker as a full bridle butt. They are the last remaining traditional Oak Bark tannery in Britain and finish their leathers by hand. Upon receiving your belt you may notice that it sports a waxy white residue on the leather. You can buff this away with a cloth or leave it in place to wear off naturally within a few weeks of wear.
Each leather strap is cut to measure by Alex from the bridle butt. Holes are punched into the strap and the edges bevelled, burnished and treated with beeswax for water resistance.
Black
5-7mm thick, 40mm wide, oak barked tanned.
Natural Veg Tan
5-7mm thick, 40mm wide. Natural veg tanned leather is undyed and will darken and mark with wear, aging to produce a fantastic patina over time.
Havana Brown
4.5mm thick, 40mm wide, oak barked tanned.
