Plastic-free jeans from HebTroCo
Plastic Free JeansWe want our jeans to last... but not til the end of time.
This year we’ve made some big changes to the makeup of our jeans by removing all plastics and reducing hardware to what’s necessary vs including it for tradition’s sake.
Most jeans are sewn using thread containing polyester. Some denims even contain polymer elastane for stretch.
Not ours…
HebTroCo jeans have always been made from 100% cotton denim. We’ve never been into that “stretch to fit” nonsense. The power of a good fit lie in the pattern, the cut of the cloth and how it’s stitched together. Do it right and you get maximum comfort and manoeuvrability from rigid 100% cotton raw denim.
In 2024, we made a step forwards in our jeans design by switching all sewing threads to Tencel. It’s a biodegradable fibre made from wood pulp. We also removed all polycotton labels and tabs, replacing them with 100% cotton alternatives and printing wash care instructions on the pocket bags.
The only remaining non-biodegradable hardware in our jeans are the brass buttons. These are solid brass – no concealed plastic inserts – and can be removed for recycling at the end of the jeans’ life.
