We make everything in Britain. It’s what we do. All the components in our clothing are, where possible, sourced in the UK. There was always something that was staring us in the face that wasn’t quite right. Until now.
Now all our garments come with British Buttons.
People tried to put us off, telling us about the trouble and huge expense of using UK made buttons, but we stuck at it.
It turns out they were right, as our buttons are about 50 times more expensive than a plastic mass produced button from overseas. We wanted to do it right though, not easy.
Doing it right had other benefits – it’s not us that’s nuts – the buttons are actually made from nuts! Our buttons are made of Corozo palm nuts, from sustainable rain forests in Ecuador, where trees are planted and maintained rather than being cut down. This means that our nuts are green and they are very special. As well as being natural the material is tough, takes colour well and gives a pleasing marbled effect.
Many trades disappeared as British manufacturing lost out to off shore sourcing. Natural button making was one, until our supplier, Courtney and Co. breathed life back into this dying industry. They are now the only natural button maker in the country. And we’re their biggest customer.
